ANIME NYC 2018 Announces Inaugural “Anisong World Matsuri” Concert Series at Hammerstein Ballroom

Anime NYC powered by Crunchyroll recently announced the globally renowned “Anisong World Matsuri” concert series will host its first edition in New York City in partnership with Anime NYC on November 16 and 17, 2018. Anisong World Matsuri brings together headlining Japanese pop stars for show-stopping concerts, and the inaugural Anisong World Matsuri NYC will feature major performances from Luna Haruna, Shoko Nakagawa, Morning Musume。’18, and more for two nights in New York’s historic Hammerstein Ballroom.

Anisong World Matsuri will take place in collaboration with Anime NYC, New York’s largest anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture convention, which will welcome over 30,000 attendees to New York’s Javits Center on November 16, 17, and 18.

Anisong World Matsuri is a partnership between leading Japanese entertainment companies including BANDAI NAMCO Arts, Inc., Amuse, Inc., and Sony Music Entertainment, Inc. to bring Japanese pop music popularized by anime (“anisong”) to new audiences around the world. It was launched in 2016, has conducted major event concerts in cities including Los Angeles, Shanghai, and Washington DC, and, this November, it will host the largest Japanese pop concert in the history of New York City.

Anisong World Matsuri will bring immensely popular Japanese singers with storied careers and songs spanning some of the most popular anime of the last decade together for two nights in NYC. Hironobu Kageyama is the leader of super group JAM Project and the voice behind Dragon Ball Z’s “Cha-La Head-Cha-La”. Hiroshi Kitadani is most known for “We Are!” from ONE PIECE. Shoko Nakagawa sang Gurren Lagann’s “Sorairo Days”. Konomi Suzuki is behind “Redo” from Re:ZERO. TRUE has given voice to themes from anime including Violet EvergardenSound Euphonium, and Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. Luna Haruna has performed themes for Sword Art OnlineFate/ZeroMonogatari, and more. And Morning Musume。is one of the biggest Japanese girl groups of all time. It was founded over 20 years ago and has sold millions of albums. Morning Musume。’18 is the group’s current line up.

Anisong World Matsuri’s Friday, November 16 event begins at 7 PM, and its Saturday, November 17 edition begins at 5 PM. Anisong World Matsuri will be open to anime fans and music lovers across New York City, with no Anime NYC badge required to attend. Ticket details will be revealed next month.
