“Paprika” produced by Kenshi Yonezu is the support song for the project that cheers on all the people doing their best towards 2020 and onwards.
The music video of “Paprika”’s English version by “Foorin team E” can be viewed on YouTube now.
“Foorin team E” is a group of 5 native English-speaking children, chosen by Kenshi Yonezu himself. The all English version of “Paprika” was created with thoughts of “From Japanese children to children of the world, let’s expand the circle to be bigger”. The music video that debuted today is a dance video filmed in the nature in one long take, similar to Foorin’s “Paprika” video. The expressive members energetically dancing & singing in a majestic location leaves an impact and the wardrobe/characters complete it to be a very colorful music video. The choreography created by Tomohiko Tsujimoto and Koharu Sugawara remains the same but has a new formation to give the performance a freshness. The broadcast on NHK E-TV “Minna no Uta” started from yesterday, December 1.
Also, “Paprika” drops digitally worldwide today, December 2 (Mon). The CD format will be released in Japan on January 22 (Wed). It will be available in 2 versions – “Limited edition” and “Standard edition”. The “Limited edition” features a 7-inch soft cover, poster size lyric card, music video DVD and origami paper. Details of a special campaign to receive a “Yume wo Egakou (Let’s build a dream) magnet” at select supporting stores will be announced soon. The cover art is by Takashi Kato, who also drew the Foorin “Paprika” cover art and animation in Kenshi Yonezu’s “Paprika” music video.
In addition, just like Foorin’s “Paprika”, all royalties made from this single will be donated to the “Japan Sport Council” in order to be used for the development of the next generation athletes.
Ever since the announcement of “Paprika” by Foorin in 2018, the “dance music video” on YouTube has surpassed 140 million views, “Paprika” related NHK videos has surpassed a total of 260 million views, making it the most popular current children’s song and creating a Paprika phenomenon all over Japan.
Furthermore, in August, Kenshi Yonezu who wrote/composed/produced the song announced a self-cover of the song. After releasing the music video on YouTube, it exceeded 10 million views in just 4 days and 9 hours, which was the fastest ever for him. Presently, the video has over 50 million views which expanded beyond generations and continues to spread.
Foorin team E, for the 1st time, will join Foorin on “The 70th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen (The 70th NHK Red & White Song Battle)”. You can look forward to what their future unfolds.
