On February 23, 2019, Miyavi will celebrate the release of his new album, “SAMURAI SESSIONS vol.3 – World’s Collide”, with a special star-studded show at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles.
“This project is all about chemistry; even in one album, there are so many colors and experimentation… It’s about how we connect to one another”, he says about the transcendent new album. “World’s Collide” includes features from an all-star ensemble of musicians and artists including Samuel L. Jackson, Betty Who, Mikky Ekko, RAC and more. MIYAVI is set to perform live with special guests from the album including: Mikky Ekko, Yuna and Duckwrth with more to be announced.
Fans may recognize MIYAVI not only from his lifelong, industrious musical career; but also as the star of the Academy Award nominated film, “Unbroken”, directed by Angelina Jolie. Since that time, Miyavi has joined Jolie as an UNHCR ambassador, working tirelessly to provide aid to refugees and educate people about this global crisis; paying particularly close attention to the education rights of refugee children. In 2015, MIYAVI’s song “the Others” was used by the UN as a unifying anthem for the globally disenfranchised. “I believe music is universal. As a musician it’s our jobs to make people pay attention.”
